L auberge de l Arros - Mauvezin

Good value for money in this rustic hotel restaurant. Five courses from a set menu where you can choose from chicken, lamb or duck as your main protein. Great portions, friendly service. Packed on Sunday mostly seemed to be locals. Not very vegetarian friendly. The chicken breast was dry, but the leg was well cooked. Come here for authentic French country cooking and a unique experience.

We stopped here for lunch. We were so surprised that this French restaurant still existed! There were 3 menus, all similar except meat 12€=chicken, 15€=lamb, 18€=Confit of Duck. So the menu reads: Soup, Hors d'Oeuvre, Fleischveg,...Salade, Wahl von 2 Desserts, all for the above prices. Great value. With such a charm. It's worth going out. Toilet okay. Parking plenty.

The welcome here was quite cool and the menus are 4 courses including either chicken, lamb or duck going up in price. Very cheap. but you soon learn why as the presentation and service leave a lot to be desired and the flies are just...dreadful. They had run out of lamb, so my friends had bifsteak hardly cooked and not nice! My chicken portion was acceptable in that it was cooked properly, The dessert was bizarre. Very French which is normally good, but so rural you need to be a native I think to enjoy it.

We were recommended to this restaurant which is certainly very local . 4 courses for 14 euros ! Almost everyone eating there appeared to live locallay and the food was certainly of the district. We were well fed and well served but the number of flies...was rather off putting but excellent value and a real taste of what the locality has to offer.
