Bidra med feedbackI can't begin to say enough good things about this place! On a whim we decided to go to dinner and thought we'd try it out. My parents live in Marshall, but we haven't been able to make it in until tonight. The ambiance as soon as you walk in the door is wonderful. 1930's music, funky pictures, and just the fact that you're in a refurbished gas station! We were taken care of by Kate, who also happens to be Chef Brian's wife, and she was absolutely wonderful. Now onto the food. Just reading the menu can't even begin to prepare you for how amazing the food is. We love Brussels Sprouts, so that was an immediate yes. We are that while we perished the menu. Everything looked so good we had a hard time deciding. We tried each of the three salads. The spinach and crusted goat cheese salad with figs was honestly the best salad I've ever had. I could eat that every day. The combination was perfect. For entrees our table had the filet, the saltimbocca chicken, escargot and crab cake. Everything was amazing. The crab cake, wrk it was obvious immediately how fresh the crab was and that it was high quality. The presentation of all of the food was beautiful. The steak, y'all it was the best steak I've ever had. It beat Ruth's Chris by a mile! The bordelaise sauce (I think that's what it was called) was so good. The steak melted in your mouth! The chicken was moist and crispy all at the same time. The bite of sage and prosciutto delicious with the chicken. There were three dessert options and three of us, so it made sense to get one of each. Besides, who doesn't want to celebrate a Wednesday as an excuse to splurge on dessert. The cheese pie with blueberries, I'm going to be dreaming of it. The peanut butter panna cotta, so rich and creamy. The chocolate pot de creme, no words. If you don't live in Marshall, it's worth the drive. Take the time, make a reservation, and get your socks blown off by the amazing food!!
Just wanted to share a great dining experience at the Star Diner in Marshall. After a beautiful drive out of Asheville along Riverside Dr. and the picturesque French Broad River this tiny gas station turned restaurant is in my opinion one of the best dining experiences that I've had in a long time! And that's impressive based on the many amazing dining options that we have here in the Asheville area. If you haven't been there than you should go! It's small, quaint and not a diner at all. In-fact it's white table clothes and an impressive wine list with a menu sure to please every palate . Chef Brian, former chef of Tupelo Honey, (when it was good), has already achieved a cult like following with his super fresh, farm-to-table, seafood and steakhouse menu. I had the crab cake to start followed by the local trout and they were both delicious! Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing! Portions were huge, food was delicious and service was excellent! Don't miss it, you won't be dissapointed!!
This place is a real gem. The food was delicious, the flavors were balanced and rich. I had one of the best ribeyes I have ever eaten. The service and staff were very good. I definitely recommend.
Incredible food in a charming vintage atmosphere. Our group covered the pork, beef, and chicken and there wasn’t a bite left on anyone’s plate. My only suggestion would be a vegetarian entree offering, but other than that, we loved everything about the place. We will definitely be back. Worth the drive!
Absolutely amazing experience, start to finish. The host was kind and accommodating, our server was knowledgeable and upbeat. The wine selection is great, and we ordered more food than we ever had anywhere else. Everything was delicious and beyond expectations. We had the bread service, fried gator tail, fried brussels with parmesan and bacon, the fried brie (we really don't often go out for fried food), the shrimp cakes, fried chicken saltimbocca, the almond crusted mountain trout, plus my partner got the lobster fettuccine while I got the cheese pie to take home. We'd originally been seated at a two seat table and were moved to a four seater to accommodate our huge spread of delightful food. We definitely plan to return.
