Sea Sand Thai - Maroubra

I ordered the $19 prawn green papaya salad. It tasted like fabric softener and they forgot the prawns. Husband ordered masaman curry, which was really good but needed rice, when we ordered some rice, it was over cooked and gluggy. Daughter’s fried rice was bland. The staff are friendly and the location is nice.

Insufficient quantity provided for some of their dishes. Attached are some photos of one of their signature dishes I was provided ordering takeaway. I emailed the restaurant about this and received no response.

The food was exquisite! Every plate better than the previous one. The service also matched with a super friendly one. A sure option for anyone around here!

Very friendly service and nice atmosphere. My mother and sister enjoyed the barramundi. Staff were willing to make the tofu salad vegan for me without the fish sauce. I think most of the people who order this dish would be vegan or vegetarian anyway, so why not make it without the fish sauce or at least have an option on the menu to have a vegan version without the fish sauce. There is a small vegetarian section on the menu with three dishes. I ordered the vegetables and tofu with peanut sauce. I was extremely confused. The sauce was yellow and extremely sour with a fermented taste. The waitress said the sauce is always yellow but it wasn't a years ago and the sourness was due to to the use of tamarind. Every Thai peanut sauce I have eaten before has been sweet and slightly spicy. It is common to use curry spices in satay sauces but I have never had one that is bright yellow. If this is a regional variety it is not explained on the menu and it is not what any customer would expect.

Waited 15 minutes for waitress, then finally went to the counter to order. We ordered curry puffs, red curry duck and chicken and cashew stir fry. 15 minutes later the curry puffs came. They were completely tasteless and seemed to be fully of sloppy mashed potato. Another 15 minutes and the duck curry came. It was very watery and again tasteless. After another 20 minutes we finally went back to the counter and asked them to cancel the chicken stir fry. As we had been there for over an hour and had an appointment elsewhere. Appalling service, tasteless food by any standards. The staff were more involved in the take away orders than their patrons in the restaurant.
