I ordered a cold beverage to take out and even offered to pay for the cup, but I was met with a rude refusal. They insisted that the drink was only for consumption with food on the premises. They advised against taking it with me if I couldn't finish it. This encounter was honestly the only amusing moment I experienced at a Hong Kong-style cafe in Canada.
