Bidra med feedbackI used to love the Barrhead for its rustic Ontario tavern vibe, complete with draft beer, mismatched chairs, and a pool table. Unfortunately, that charm is a thing of the past. The historical ambiance is gone, but they do have a nice outdoor garden/patio area for when the weather gets better. On the plus side, the service was friendly and quick. My friend and I both tried the Barr Burger, which was tasty, but I had a hard time accepting the $18 price tag for a hamburger.
After a long wait, the restaurant has finally reopened. The new menu offers innovative and delicious dishes starting at around $12. Although they no longer have beer on tap, there are several bottled and canned options available. I tried the chickpea fritter platter for lunch today and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were great and the presentation of the dish was very attractive.
The owner does an excellent job of procuring local seafood. A significant amount of creativity is put into the dinner specials. The dining room features tables overlooking the river and a fireplace. The service is also very friendly!
Great pub...noisey on the bar side, so if you want to talk try the dining room. Very clean and prompt service. Great selection of draught beer. Had to seek out our waitress twice for drink orders...not good that way... but overall she was very pleasant. Would definitely go back again....
Sadly, this wonderful restaurant is on hold awaiting repair from damaging spring flooding. There 's always several options of unique, tasty meals in addition to a regular menu of pub food. Hope it 's able to re-open soon!
