Los Arrieros - Madrid

In a quiet alley off Mayor. Pleasant indoors and outdoor seating for decent weather. Very simple fixed menu for E12.90. Pretty bland. Very friendly. Given the other reviews, bit surprising.

Tucked away in a little corner of a street is this quaint restaurant. It was lunchtime and I was looking around aimlessly till I came upon this tiny gem. I ordered their set meal and chose the fettuccine (creamy with bits of meat and prawn) as a starter and pan-fried fish (with garlic) as a 2nd course. Dessert was the coffee ice-cream (would have been nice if it was served in a proper bowl rather than their original packaging of an ice-cream cup). Service was attentive and prompt.

We ate here recently having booked with the Fork for 50% off food. We were expected when we arrived. First people there staff arrived just as it opened at 8.30 so it was a little hot until the air conditioning kicked in. Anyhow, I had pancakes to start followed by a pork stew with various nuts. All dishes appeared to come with chips. The food was nice but would have been expensive without the discount 21 euros for a main course for example. We sat inside but most customers it got busier by the time we left were outside.
