Bidra med feedbackTraditional Grotto ticinese between Ascona and Losone with delicious meals. Nice and romantic atmosphere and not too touristic at all. Service and dinner was great quality, even the Limoncello was offered with a valuable bill at the end.
We had lunch there after a visit to Monte Verita and where pleasantly surprised by their food, given the simple look of the place. We had ravioli della nonna and polenta with cream and porcini sauce (instead of Gorgonzola) which was both absolutely amazing. Also, and astonishing for Ascona is the very reasonable price for what we had, including the wine.Definitely worth a trip off the beaten track from the usual Ascona places. Great for hot sunny days as the stone tables are under the shady tree.
We went in June and everone was seated outside. The setting is bucolic up in the hills outside Ascona. The food is typical Ticinese. The wine good and local which means Merlot. It is unfussy, simple and we loved it.
It's a bit off the beaten path and worth the trip up the hill in the woods. Good local dishes, nice outdoor seating, fair prices and the food was also good. Would go again!
Particularly in summertime this unpretentious grotto offers you a fresh spot under the trees, together with local, delicious, simple dishes. The service is quick and friendly.
