Bidra med feedbackVisited here with family for a late Saturday lunch. The set menu was a very reasonable price and had a wonderful feta, almond and rocket salad to start and one of the best pork belly dishes I have ever tasted. Service was excellent and the light open, contemporary decor added to a wonderful meal. Highly recommended.
My family has been going to the Lighthouse restaurant for over 20 years, and we have always loved it. However, it seems like the quality has gone down recently. They didn't offer us the delicious homemade bread with dipping oils anymore, and now they charge for it. The menu was still interesting and diverse, and I ordered the venison which was great, but the vegetables were not hot. The chocolate bread and butter pudding could have been amazing if it wasn't cold in the middle. I sent it back, but it only came back slightly warmer. To top it off, a waitress brought us two glasses of red wine that we didn't order (we already had a bottle). They tried to charge us for it on the bill, but they removed it after we complained. No apology was given.
I went for Sunday roast, and as a chef myself, I can be quite critical. This place is fantastic. Their roast lamb and roast beef were amazing, and the horseradish sauce was truly exceptional. The chef, Commander Chris, is a class act. You should definitely go here, you will not be disappointed.
We tried the fish platter and it was one of the best dishes I have had in over 40 years in the restaurant business. The cod was wonderful and the prawns were fabulous.
We visited for lunch and ordered from the fixed price menu. The food was tasty but the choices very limited two starters and two mains to choose from and no vegetarian option. At just under £30 it was nevertheless very good value.
