Bidra med feedbackThis restaurant is definitely closed. The signs have been removed from the building. I've reported the closure to Yelp, but I understand they likely won't act based on just one person's report. Unfortunately, I don't think enough people are paying attention to this place for Yelp to receive additional reports.
The restaurant is now named King Tequila. The food was decent, but the prices were too high—$16 for a cheese quesadilla and $20 for an entree that included beans and rice make it the most expensive Mexican restaurant in the area. During peak dinner hours on a weeknight, the place was nearly empty. We won't be returning, as there are several other Mexican restaurants nearby that offer similar quality at much more reasonable prices.
I have no interest in returning to any Mexican restaurant that charges for chips, especially when they're stale. This feels more like a fake Mexican experience and seems like a corporate money grab.
We arrived at 1230 on a Sunday and we chose to sit on the patio, a party of four. We understand they are under new ownership and etc. I honestly don't have anything good to say about our experiences. Their temporary paper menus had salsa and various things spilled on them. It took 25 minutes to get our margaritas. And one was supposed to be frozen and it wasn't. Took 8 minutes to get the correct one. Our server had not even taken our food order yet. So at this point, 35 mins after arriving, we were done. Our server said she was confused and we explained the wait times were unacceptable. Her response was she had many patrons inside to attend to. Also didn't like the fact each additional basket of chips is $1.99. Too many other Mexican food restaurants in town to waste time on a sub par one.
Back when it was Black Agave they had phenomenal food, fresh chips, amazing salsa. Now? Trash. They kept the same prices for margaritas but switched to cheaper tequila, the chips tasted days old, the salsa was OFF. I used to love going here and now it's just foul. Ordered enchiladas and they tasted strongly of cinnamon, not what I was expecting. I hope they can get back to the standards which once were but it may end up like all the other businesses in that building... Out.However, the staff was friendly, helpful, and speedy. Very kind people working there with not so great recipes and conditions to work with. I hope things get better.
