Absolutely wonderful host and delicious food will be back

We called to make reservations and were told that the restaurant could only accept 30 people due to Covid. We had to provide the restaurant with a credit card to hold our spot 7 for dinner. The menu for Saturday was German food (apparently they spend the whole day preparing for this meal $40 per person. They also offered a beer tasting session for $20 per person. We arrived super excited to eat our authentic German meal and taste some beers. The beer tasting was was the most memorable part of our evening. For the main meal we were given a choice of a few German dishes no appetizers and no dessert apparently this was not part of the price fix menu. We ordered 3 appetizers which we shared. The herring and artichokes both tasted as though they came from a jar and served with a side of ritz crackers (RITZ CRACKERS???? . The third appetizer sausage was also quite unimpressive. Our main meals were served with a tiny lettuce and chopped tomato salad. The rest of the food was either dry, soggy or very sour. I'm sorry to say that all sense of German heritage has been lost at this restaurant. I've traveled to Germany and tasted real German food this meal with Ritz crackers was NOT authentic. Let me also remind you how much we paid for a sub par meal. Bottom line this is a little tourist trap, with overpriced food and served by a family who has lost all sense of their German heritage.

My two little kids (10 and 8) and I decided to venture on an impromptu visit to the ADKs before school starts. We booked the stage coach ride, cooking class, and beer tasting (for me, not them...lol) in addition to our hotel stay. This place delivered on every front. Cathy was lovely and especially wonderful to my children during the cooking class and we learned a ton! Ernie knows his beer and I can appreciate someone who is as enthusiastic as I am about it! He even sent us home with two very cool and interesting beers at checkout! The dinners were phenomenal! Their son Jurgen was out waiter both nights and he was especially attentive and again, super kind to my kids. Having worked in the restaurant business myself, I know dealing with little kids isn't always fun or easy. Everyone was great! It was all so lovely and fun and I would go back in a heartbeat!

Always a great time here. Amazing selection of beer and wine and food is absolutely delicious. Will not disappoint.

Would have given this establishment no stars if possible. I paid half down for a cabin for 3 nights $657) and contacted the place more than 2 weeks before the stay because my lady friend left me. I called and emailed and heard nothing back from the proprietors. I looked at the cancelation policy which took a bit to navigate to on the website) and they require a months notice, in writing. I didn't expect a full refund but also didn't expect to pay $657 for nothing. It seemed a bit scummy and bad business. While I would never want any business to fail, I hope they reap what they sew and run into the same situation as they obviously have no conscience or true concern for their customers.
