El Charro Mexican Dining - Lafayette

Last Saturday night, my wife and I accidentally ended up at El Charro. She had actually intended to go to El Jarro, but we ended up at the wrong Mexican restaurant on the same street. The restaurant was busy, but unfortunately, we were disappointed with our experience. The service was slow due to understaffing, and it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The waiters were pleasant, but once our food was served, we didn't see them again. The food was mediocre, with a super burrito that had a strange sweet filling, bland refried beans and guacamole, and an enchilada that was mostly sauce. Overall, we were seriously disappointed with our meal and will be more careful about checking the name of a restaurant before going there next time.

This Mexican restaurant has always been a family favorite and when my dad asked to go here to celebrate his birthday i was more than happy to oblige. Service is courteous, the food is delicious and we have never been disappointed. My grandmother would always have a Margarita and I follow suit in her absence, she was a sensible lady.

Hadn't been here in about so was looking forward to going back. It was as good as I remembered it. Very friendly staff too!

Chile rellenos small and very disappointing two the three adult patrons in my group who ordered them. Said my home made ones were better. Three adults two teenagers. Taco bowl was liked by the year old. Too big for him to finish! Can't remember what the year old had but good enough for him to finish it all and be full. Chips and salsa fresh. Like the butter blue cheese garlic combined one especially. Pitcher frozen margarita good. As Shirley Temples. Service very good.

The food wasn't fantastic but it wasn't bad. The service wasn't excellent but wasn't bad. This place falls right in the middle. It has decent prices and the food is decent. If you want just to eat without expecting too much, this place has it.
