Great lunch and aperitif in the middle of the city.

On a recent trip to La Spezia, my husband and I spent our first evening having a drink before our evening meal. We both reflected on the fact that with 'aperitivi ' in Italy you tend to get decent snacks brought out with your drink.

Good for drinks with friends maybe, but thought the cover charge of 2.50 euros per person expensive and food poor. Stayed in La Spezia for a week and this was not one of the finest experiences.

Stopped for a quick meal, something light. Menu is not extensive, but they were out of ingredients for caprese salad ? so my wife ordered tuna carpaccio. Horrible plate looks nothing like the photo on the menu. It was like extremely thin sliced ham which tasted somewhat like smoked salmon. Almost inedible. I had the penne bolognaise. I've had much better in a shopping mall food court in Canada. Overcooked and tasteless sauce. Expensive and it was not busy at the time, yet it took 20 minutes to get our bill after requesting it from the waiter. Many much better restaurants in this area. Stay away!
