La Plaza - La Oliva

My wife and I have eaten here before, albeit a few years ago, and had a good experience but tonight was the worst I’ve had in Corralejo and I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. The service was very poor with no customer appreciation or interaction, the food was all prepared using “Chef Mike” (microwave) and the constant bickering between the staff and the woman behind the counter (cooking well I say cooking! putting orders in the microwave) was non stop and loud without any consideration that customers were in earshot of their endless disagreements. The dates wrapped in bacon were burnt to a frazzle, the squid/pulpo in the paella was like rubber and the fisherman’s clams were as salty as the sea. What an absolute disgrace and a wasted evening. Avoid this place at all costs.

Good tasty food. Lively atmosphere. Plenty of tables both inside and outside. Staff friendly, but waiting skills a little sloppy at times especially when rushed. Used by locals. Open lunch time and evenings. The vegetarian paella was full of flavour and the figs wrapped in bacon delicious. House wine was reasonably priced. Meal was followed by a complimentary shot of Honey Rum. We visited on two occasions and enjoyed both visits. Get there early if you want a specific table it fills up quickly.

Lovely location in the old part of town near the harbour, really pleasant to stroll around and then enjoy great cocktails and good service at La Plaza
