Shogun - La Jolla

Shogun is one of the best restaurants on campus. I always get a chicken catsu shot and they're always great! Very fast service, fair prices and wonderful employees too.

I had the bento B with katsu for $11.80 (see photo below). The portion size and flavor were great. However, my only complaint is that the tempura included just one piece of zucchini, two potatoes, and two sweet potatoes, which added too many carbs on top of the rice.

I honestly don’t understand all the negativity towards Shogun. The prices, especially for sushi, are unbeatable, and the food overall is very good. The staff here is incredibly friendly and patient, especially during large events on campus when it gets crowded and there are long lines. The sushi chefs do an excellent job; I've been to pricier sushi places that don’t taste half as good as the fresh sushi from Shogun. While I’ve never tried the ramen, the bowls and bento boxes are fantastic. It’s definitely one of the best places to eat on campus.

I frequently bring my friends to this restaurant, and I highly recommend it. I visit often, and my friends always give positive feedback. The food is delicious, and the staff is prompt and accommodating. Each time we go, we enjoy a wonderful evening. I highly recommend this place.
