Bidra med feedbackWe were a night in arashiyama and it's not easy to find dinner places. Finally we go to this amazing restaurant of Google search. they offer a single menu, but it tastes better than the tofu course I had in kyoto. service is great, employees can speak English. and the view of the garden is amazing! my mother enjoyed a lot. the entree onsen egg, tempura and of course the different tofu kitchens all taste great. the set costs us 3800 yen and a warm sake in 700 yen. would definitely recommend friends!
This was one of the best experiences I had in Kyoto. We started the day dressing in traditional clothing (Yukata and Kimono) and walked around Tenryu-ji and Arashiyama bamboo forest. Keeping with the spirit, I wanted to have a traditional dining experience. Thankfully I found Yudofu Sagano while wandering the neighborhood. As you enter the restaurant the friendly host will give you the option of either dining on tables or tatami; I highly recommend the tatami experience. You will be escorted through the garden and into a tatami mat room overlooking it. This restaurant offers a tofu kaiseki course including boiled tofu in kombu, tempura, and various tofu based side dishes. The taste of each dish was both delicate but intricate. For example the boiled tofu dish came with a ponzu dipping sauce to dip in adding both a nice citrus bite and helping cool down the tofu. The soft boiled egg in soy sauce was really delicate but creamy and perfectly cooked. The quantity and pacing of the meal was perfect for a mid afternoon lunch after exploring the area. I would definitely come back!
Before coming to Japan, many people would ask why Tofu can become a main theme of a restaurant. Tofu dishes can be understood as a light but tasty, simple but fulfilling, mind-purifying and refreshing. All these can only be understood when people come in person. The landscape, the restaurant premise, and the food are a package of this excellent dining experience.
4.5 stars. Incredible sesame tofu and sesame soy ice cream the textures and flavours were so special. The vegetable tempura was good, especially the kabocha, but the pickled ginger was awful. Also, some of the side dishes were very underwhelming. Service was courteous but felt a bit rushed and insincere. One of the best parts is the atmosphere dining in a traditional tatami salon in front of a beautiful, peaceful garden.
Japanese tofu restaurant in the most beautiful attraction in Kyoto (bamboo forest). There is course with ¥4000 with 3 main dish options. The restaurant is not vegetarian, they use egg and fish. Very peaceful Japanese garden view and the staff are nice. The food are delicious, we chose yudofu main dish and cool tofu noodle main dish.
