Bidra med feedbackChennai Xpress serves a huge variety of Dosas. The food is tasty but nothing outstanding. The service is good.
This was the first time that I ordered from this place and I was quite satisfied. Due to medical reasons, I can only have Rava Dosa and in my area there is a dirth of South Indian restaurant that has it in their menu. Chennai Xpress made me very happy on that context!<br/ <br/ The dosa was huge! It had several layers and was very crisp and perfectly done. I opted it with cheese and it had ample cheese in it. That with a handful of coriander leaves thrown in made the overall dish delicious. The sambar daal was light and non-spicy with a few veggies in it and the daal added a refreshing touch to the dosa. So did the coconut chutney that was quite thick and had a hint of mint in it. The additional red chutney provided just the right kick to complete the dish.<br/ <br/ Packaging was neat and clean, the daal and chutney in plastic containers and the dosa wrapped in banana leaf and then newspaper over it. Many people does not like the use of newspaper as wraps, but I would say, the banana leaf acted as a shield and kept the dosa fresh and crisp.<br/ <br/ Overall, what you get here is good value for money and I would definitely go back for more from this place!!
A must try is Cheese burst. Cordial and very responsive, nice service by the steward named Biswajit.
Often the one's that are at a stone's throw distance, are ignored. Same was the case with me. Chennai Express is located at about a minute's distance from my home and I can't believe I hadn't yet tried it. All thanks to a sudden meet up that we decided to be here. And the food has me totally floored.<br/ For starters we had:<br/ Malai Paneer Tikka (Highly highly recommended): Soft pieces of paneer marinated in malai, tandoor grilled and served with a layer of melted cheese on top.......yes I just described a little bit of heaven.<br/ Veg Tandoor Platter: A wholesome platter with variety of kebabs to fill you up. It has tandoori aloo, hara bhara kebab, Tandoori paneer tikka and Malai Paneer tikka. Each and every piece was delectable. Specially loved the filling for tandoori aloo. <br/ <br/ For Main Course we got ourselves:<br/ <br/ Veg Biryani: Long basmati rice cooked to perfection. The aroma filling up the room.....this biryani was served with raita and served as the perfect base for our condimental dishes. <br/ <br/ Shaam Savera(Highly highly highlyyyyy recommended): Oh My God....where do I even begin to describe what piece of delight this was. I had shaam savera for the first time and I'm a fan for life. Imagine a palak katori filled with paneer and khoya, floating on a yellow nut based gravy.....uffffff I'll go back for this every time.<br/ <br/ Dal Makhani: This is our regular dal makhani which had the aroma of ghee oozing and giving a heavenly feel.<br/ <br/ Pindi Chhola: This too was really good, mildly spiced and was paired perfectly with the naans and kulcha that we ordered.<br/ <br/ Paneer Tikka Masala: The paneer lover in me was soooo happy to be here. The quality of paneer that they use is too good to be true. This dish was a bit on the spicier side which I loved. Paired it up with the butter and garlic naans. Tasted so amazing that I'm drooling at the very thought of it. <br/ To wash it all down, we got ourselves the recently launched milkshakes in Strawberry, Blueberry, Khas Banana and Black Currant. The Khas Banana was something very unique and tasted quite refreshing. However, my absolute favorite is the Blueberry milkshake. I can gulp down bottles of this one.<br/ <br/ Overall, for the first time, I fell in love with a vegetarian joint. The food, the quantity and above all, the quality is really amazing considering the price that you pay for it. Also, they have the best blueberry milkshake in town hands down.<br/ <br/ Can't wait to be back.....!!!!
I love my food either it's veg or non veg , it doesn't matter to me at all..yeah i was a hardcore non vegetarian and i was think twice before visiting a veg food joints but things are changed now and my perspectives too. The city of joy brings so many good veg restaurant which surely blow your mind. Here comes the Chennai Xpress which is also a veg themed restaurant that stole my heart. The overall vibe of the place was very homely and it was based on train themed. The interior and the decor was outstanding. This place was not that huge and can accommodate 20 30 people max at a time.<br/ <br/ So, we hit the place to try some south indian food but we discover that they just introduced their north indian menu so we quickly decided to try that out. <br/ <br/ Coming to the real deal which is food ofcourse <br/ <br/ Malai Panner Tikka Also known as grilled cottage cheese. Panner Tikka Combined With Malai was a pure bliss. <br/ <br/ Veg Tandoori Platter it's a must try if you landed with the group. This platter comes with Tandoori aloo, Hara Bhara Kebab,Tandoori Paneer Tikka and Malai Paneer Tikka.<br/ <br/ In Main Course We Had <br/ <br/ Veg Biryani which is comes with raita.<br/ Shaam Savera<br/ Pindi Chola<br/ Dal Makhni<br/ Paneer Tikka Masala<br/ Assorted Indian Breads <br/ <br/ From the main course i love the pindi chola and the dal makhni the most. Shaam savera was really unique too and you can definitely try this out.<br/ Last but not the least we had tried their few shakes too and i highly recommended their shakes as those shakes were totally amazing<br/ ,Specially that black current shakes was incredibly delicious.<br/ <br/ Overall it was a lovely experience for us and we are fully satisfied with their food , service and their hospitality. The best thing is that they followed all the safety precautions for the covid19 , even they use disposable plates and spoons which is really a Commendable job.
