Really good coffee, great taste and the right temperature. Warm up compared to other local outlets £3.30 for a very small latte), but personally I would rather pay a bit more for a great coffee than I would for the Bland thing that they use... in Costa/Starbucks.
Visited lunchtime, had a focaccia, coffee and orange juice. All were good except the price of £14.90. It's not a value for money, it's demolished. Also notices that they charge £4-5 for a piece of cake. Nice place, staff friendly and produce good, but load... People this lot of money isn't.
Shake of the now bad menu, very high prices and rude service. We always enjoyed an early breakfast here, especially at this season. Parking early, breakfast and then a little Christmas shopping. Today, although we visited, you do not do more... the complete breakfast menu and have a very limited choice. We ordered two coffees, scrambled eggs with avocado and bacon, an amazing £34.00! The eggs were bland and unseasonal. Coffee was okay. I was told that they “don’t serve sauces!” When I asked for Ketchup. Too bad we're not going back. There are better places in Kingston now. As it was empty today, I think we don't think about it alone.
Every Thursday we come up to Surbiton to babysit our 1 year old grandson. If the weather 's nice we 'll walk along the towpath towards Kingston. Today was one such day, but agreed that we needed some sustenance as a reward so we decided to have...a coffee and cake at the 'Local Hero ' in Thames Street. First time there. Staff very friendly. Two flat whites were excellent ... served hot, with a 'nutty ' bean flavour that was pleasantly different. My chocolate brownie was to 'die for '; all chocolatey and gooey. My wife 's 'mandarine and chocolate ' cake (GF) was excellent, too. Nuff said. Us two oldies will be back there very soon.
