Versatile Restaurant - Kaleen

Having recently arrived from UK in Canberra for weekend found this fantastic restaurant. Menu instantly caught my attention. Well thought out and balanced showing chef has skill and that was certainly confirmed when the food was presented. All courses cooked to perfection supported by excellent bottle of Brindabella Hills Brio Sangiovese 2017 which suited my European tastes. Head chef Andrew and his excellent waiting staff made for an excellent overall experience

Our visit to Versatile happened by accident, but Andrew and his team delighted with his menu, his exquisite food and delightful ambience. It was one of the best dining experiences I have had for some time and would recommend if without reservation to all who enjoy their food and who are prepared to travel a little to experience this gem of a place.

Late September I was given a brief to find a place for a family party of 28. There was a budget, we had vegans, a vegetarian, food allergy and kids. And it's Christmas time . So I read reviews of places all over Canberra and then started calling. Our party was too big or too small. Access was an issue. Booked. Or ruled out already based on our brief. I didn't guess that the one place I landed on would suit us so well. We had half the space sectioned off, tables set beautifully. Considerate placement of extra bits of furniture...a coffee and tea station, somewhere for gifts, the cake, a retreat area (though no one retreated). Plenty of room to get up and move between the three tables. In the planning stage, Andrew was very helpful and the agreed menu adapted very well for the diverse group. The service was good, the food arrived at sensible intervals and portions spot on. The food was exactly what we needed. Not too fussy or dull or challenging for the conservative pallets. Wife and I came across this Restaurant and it turned out to be the best we have been too for a long time. It only opens on Friday and Saturday and you have to be lucky to get in on a Saturday has they are usually booked out. The food was first class and the service even better. For a special occasion don't go past it.

Last night my husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Versatile. We had 40 family and friends attending. I can’t thank Andrew enough for providing a fantastic venue with a dinner to match. Nothing was too much trouble. Can highly recommend Versatile to anyone wanting excellent food and service in a high quality venue.
