Bidra med feedbackOne of the best kbbq spots in Irvine. Quieter than baekjeong. Had pork belly and hit the spot. Amazing service by one of the male servers. Will def return soon.
The experience of Korean bbq in this place is unique and needs to be savored. The short ribs is not to be missed. They first put the kimchi on the tabletop grill, then the vegetables, meat, seafood and mushrooms, in that order. As soon as everything is cooked, you can start eating with the wraps provided. Or you could ask them for fried rice which they mix up with everything on the grill with a lot of dexterity. And it tastes great. The service is busy so you can get a little frustrated in having the servers help you with flipping, cooking and cutting up all the bbq items. But once you have their attention, they will help you.
Came here with our friends who know the owner. What a treat. The kimchi, sprouts and other vegetables are started in the cast iron domed grill. The meats you order are added one at a time. We started with the seared Angus ribeye steak Bam it was delicious. Next up was 2 orders of the prime black pork belly. Deeeeeelicious! Then came the boneless wagyu short rib. Exquisite. Finally we had the big headless black tiger shrimp and octopus. What a treat. The meal comes with all the accompaniments expected at a high end Korean BBQ, lettuce, jalapenos, onion, mushrooms and various sauces and dips. The Honey Pig BBQ is legit.
I've been to this place twice already and the experience here is always amazing. My family came here on a Friday night and we were able to get seated right away. They immediately add kimchi, bean sprouts, and a bunch of other side dishes onto the huge grill in the middle of the table. We ordered the pork belly, bugolgi, and boneless short rib as our meat options. I'm usually not a huge fan of pork belly, but this spot absolutely changed my mind! It had the best pork belly I've ever had and it went so well with the grilled kimchi and radish slice they had on the side. Definitely my favorite meat options out of the 3 we ordered. The servers do come by to cook the food for you but you can also do it yourself if that's something you prefer. Once you're all done with the food they come by and turn all your leftovers into kimchi fried rice! Of course by then we were way too stuffed to eat it so we just took it home which makes for great leftovers. Overall a great kbbq spot and definitely a unique experience from your typical kbbq restaurant!
I tried the beef tongue, pork belly, beef belly, marinated short rib, and paired them with kimchi stew and a seafood pancake. While the beef tongue was tender and enjoyable, the other meats were just okay—not spectacular but not bad either. The seafood pancake was similarly bland and lacked flavor. At the end of the meal, they mix everything on the grill with rice to make fried rice, which was a unique touch. However, I found it a bit odd to eat from a slanted grill, even though I appreciate the grill concept overall. Overall, I don’t think I’ll return to this place if there’s a Baekjeong nearby. In my opinion, Baekjeong offers better service and has the advantage of combo options that this place lacks.
