Bidra med feedbackVery poor service and attitude by the staff. They judge by what you are and not who you are. They do not like feedback to improve, thinking they know the best, which is not. Sub par, poor quality food, over priced even for the North the attitude of the serving staff.
The restaurant and lounge are connected to the Mackenzie Hotel which was the reason I chose this hotel in the first place. I 'm glad I did because everything was in one place and you didn 't have to leave the hotel for food or drink. I was impressed with the menu and selection however the prices are northern prices and there is no draft beer on tap.
The food was delicious but on the pricier side, typical of northern restaurants. Travelers should expect higher prices. The service was attentive but the staff seemed inexperienced. They only offer bottled beer, with a decent selection. The buffalo chicken burger was tasty, as were the potato skins. The portions were a bit small and the wait for the food was quite long, possibly due to it being busy for a Tuesday night.
We stopped in for dinner the evening of the Great Northern Arts Festival. It might have been a little busier as a result. The restaurant and lounge is much the same as you might find an an full service hotel. The service was good and the food also was good. I did have kind of an alternative red sauce on my pasta which was more in the salsa category. That combination was not really to my taste but that is a personal preference it was prepared fine. It's a place good place to find a good meal in Inuvik.
My husband had been to this restaurant years ago, so we decided to try it again in hopes of finding local meat options like caribou, muskox, or arctic char on the menu. Unfortunately, we were slightly disappointed to find that the menu was just typical fare you would find in any other part of Canada. Despite this, the food was delicious, though it wasn't exactly what we had hoped for in terms of selection.
