Il Gusto da Leonardo - Innsbruck

Ein Erlebnis. Ich stimme den Vorrednern dahingehend zu, dass einem schnell Dinge 'aufgeschwatzt' werden könnten, die man nicht vorhatte zu kaufen, aber einerseits kann man ja ablehnen, und andererseits ist es meiner Meinung nach auch in gewisser Weise die kommunikative und authentische italienische Art. Als Tourist muss man eben überall aufmerksam sein. Wir hatten großen Spaß; der Antipastiteller für 2 Personen hat hervorragend geschmeckt, wenn auch nicht ganz günstig, dafür aber spitzen Qualität.

Die vielen niedrigen Bewertungen sind wirklich nicht gerechtfertigt. Ich habe hier zweimal gegessen und obwohl ich kein Feinschmecker bin, bekommt man hier wirklich selten so gute Pizza. Vom Aussehen, Geschmack und den Zutaten her ist das nicht mit einer "normalen" österreichischen Pizzeria zu vergleichen. Ich habe jedes Mal etwa 15 €/Person für Essen und ein Wasser bezahlt. Das ist meiner Meinung nach ein angemessener Preis, besonders für die Qualität der Zutaten. Ich hatte vorher keinen Blick auf die Speisekarte und Preise, aber ich habe mich darauf verlassen, dass wir nicht abgezockt werden und das war auch nicht der Fall. Hier ist alles etwas lockerer und informeller, wie ich es auch aus südeuropäischen Restaurants kenne. Wenn man sicher gehen will, sollte man vorher fragen, was das Ganze kosten wird. Der Besitzer versucht gerne, einem etwas "aufzuschwatzen" - "Möchtest du nicht noch XYZ dazu?" - aber wenn man etwas nicht will, muss man einfach klar "Nein" sagen. Er plaudert auch gerne mit einem, was einige andere Bewertungen hier vielleicht als "aufdringlich" bezeichnen. Das mag manche Leute stören, aber ich fand es durchaus sympathisch. Für mich ist es momentan die beste Pizza in der Stadt.

My wife and I are from New Jersey. We are happy to have great Italian cuisine in our state. That said the food was delicious. The bread was excellent. The Antipasto delicious. Wine was very good, and the lasagna was perfect. My wife and I had a great time with our waiter and the owner who is also the cook was a real pleasure. I enjoyed this meal and hospitality.

I rarely write reviews but this place deserves one so other travelers don't fall into the same trap. I learned a huge lesson after eating at Il Gusto, always read TripAdvisor reviews about the place you are considering eating at. Had I done that, I would have read about the owner's scam. Said owner, Antonio, waltzes around his delicatessen pretending to be everyone's best friend, lures passersby in off the street case in point: Me! with his ultra friendliness and free samples of bread, cheese and mortadella. He sits you down at a table, puts food in front of your face (that looks good but isn't anything special) without showing you a menu then charges 3x the price of what it would cost at any other deli. I was shocked when my tasteless plate of food, that I had assumed would be around 12 euro, cost 30 euro!!! Really. He said it with a straight face. Complete ripoff! In my experience, the owner is a swindler, a stain on Italian culture and cuisine everywhere.

The food was good and tasty I must say but the experience was far from pleasant and also not authentic Italian. The owner is offensive, kept pinching my children's cheeks, kept putting his arm around me (hello, 21st century!!). My kids wanted pizza which he said he will prepare with salami and prosciutto - off he went without providing a menu or prices, without asking us if we agreed, he talked them into taking lemonade as well - we were so dumbfounded that we just looked at each other, again off he went. Back he came with a BIG plate of bread with ham and salami (not pizza!!) - I don't have to say that the kids were more than unhappy. I ordered lasagna to share with my mom, pleasant but we had to eat from one plate and it wasn't a big portion). In the end we asked for the bill - One serving of lasagna with eggplant, 3 lemonades, 1 simple wine and one platter of bread with salami and prosciutto - 66 Euros! No need to say I was angry - I threw 50 Euro on the counter, told him to keep the rest of the food he packed and told him if he asked for more money I would call the police. That shut him up. I have no problem spending money on good food and I often do so but if I feel like I am being tricked I will tell the guy off! Stay away from this place.
