Bidra med feedbackGreat food! Exceptional service! I love R&B, and you will too! Try the whole or half chicken, with grits.
Katy answered the phone when I called asking about a table. She was very personable and reassured me to come in and she would have a table, she did and 3 of us had a very nice time here. This is a bacon and pork fat kind of place. I had an old fashioned with bacon bourbon and a piece of pork belly. The brussel sprouts had bacon and I believe my sons shrimp and grits had some too! We like bacon and we certainly liked everything we had on this visit. My wife and I split the whole bird fried chicken. The light breading on the bird really makes it! I think this was the best fried chicken I have ever had. Portion sizes were just tight and we didn't have to lug home any leftovers, but we we're definitely full.
I went to Root Bone on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner with friends. I'd been to Root Bone once before for brunch and really enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to trying the supper menu. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy. The staff is very friendly and does their best to invite you into the space. The aesthetic the restaurant presents has a southern comfort feel, which echoes their menu. I split the Honey Roasted Lemon Chicken with a friend. The chicken was very juicy and the avgolemno thyme broth was delicious. It came with 4 pieces, which was enough for the both of us. However, if you order this, I would recommend ordering a side because it does not come with anything else. I also had a few bites of the Farmer's Salad which was very fresh. The lemon thyme vinaigrette was a bright flavor that rounded out the whole salad. The restaurant surprised my friend with a birthday cookie that we all split, which was a nice end to the night. Something I noticed Root Bone offers on their menu is many seasonal dishes which continues to bring in customers. Price wise, this was a surprisingly affordable dinner. Since I split a dish with a friend, I didn't pay a lot for a nice dinner. I would recommend Root Bone to anyone in the Indy area for a night of comforting food.
Ambiance great; perfect date place or group dinner. Food our 6 person group was very happy. Biscuits, fried green tomatoes and drunken deviled eggs were devoured. Hubs and I shared a whole fried chicken with cheese waffle. Service started out great. At the end of the night we were asked if we had room for dessert but we were all stuffed. Our server brings a bread pudding with 6 spoons and we thought, how nice, going above for spending so much here. Then we got charged for it. So, that left a bad taste in my mouth at the end of a pretty terrific evening. It wasn 't the cost as much as feeling like that just got slid in there without our consent.
I've visited over 50 restaurants in Indy and this one is my favorite! The ribs were to die for. The grits were amazing. The pie was phenomenal. Just the best.
