Bidra med feedbackWe needed a restaurant to help us celebrate a special occasion. that’s it! although the restaurant was obviously popular with locals who had only one dinner or celebrated the owner, went to some length to offer us a table for...six people. the food was in the did top regal and the service was excellent. our lack of local language was not in any way a hindrance, as the owner was most controversial with English and could interpret the menu for us. the kitchen is French and the offers were varied and suitable for most taste.
Very fresh food Good wine list There is plenty of tables available, but it is better to book because always many peoples eat there
We needed a restaurant to help us to celebrate a special occasion. This was it! Although the restaurant was obviously popular with locals who were just having an evening meal or celebrating the owner went to some length to provide us with a table for...six people. The food was indeed top shelf and the service was superb. Our lack of the local language was not in any wap an impediment as the owner was most conversant with English and was able to interpret the menu for us. It is not very often that I can say I have had a great dining experience but this was one of those rare occasions. My colleague recommended this place, so I thought why not take a detour. It's easily reachable if you use the tram...in Strasbourg. Take the A/E Tram to Colonne and then walk west for about 5-6 minutes to it over the canal. With my non-existent French/German I thought I would have difficulties however there was an English menu available but luckily phone translation worked well too. Gazpacho was served complimentary and it was quite pleasant. I later learned that it's referred to as Amuse-Bouche to help prepare you for the meal. The only starter I could order was Hot Goat Cheese on toast as everything else had meat in it but I was not disappointed. The cheese melts in your mouth and accompanies the toast quite well. For main I had Back of cod, served with shrimp (You will need to ask for the poultry juice i.e. sans jus de volaille if you eat Halal/Kosher). The cod was delicate and the shrimps were very nice too. The decor was nice and you felt more as if you were somebody's guest there rather than a patron . The doll at the front of the restaurant in a cot unnerved me a bit though, I have never seen such a judgmental doll before. If you are in Strasbourg I thoroughly recommend taking the detour here. It's a wonderful restaurant full of excellent food and charm.
