Ze Da Tripa - Ílhavo

There are a few houses that do tripas, though Zé da Tripa in Costa Nova is the best. Tripa is a kind of American cookie not well cooked with a sweetness inside. My favorite is the one with traditional chocolate.

When you visit Aveiro or the nearby beaches you must search for this delicacy sold on kiosks, manly in Aveiro and in the beaches of Barra and Costa Nova. You can choose different fillings (I prefer chocolat or ovos moles egg cream) or enjoy it simple, without filling. It 's particularly tasty on winter days (it is prepared on the minute and served hot) or on the summer nights.

This is a kind of kiosk located on the central Costa Nova Avenue. In here you can buy either the “Bolacha Americana” or the “Tripa”. The first is a very thin wafer the second is done with the same mixture but looking like a sandwich – both are prepared at the moment and stuffed with what you choose from chocolate to different marmalades. If you want to buy the first in its plain version (without filling) the way I most like you don’t have to wait in line. Enjoy!

You can have it with milk chocolate, dark chocolate, special types of chocolate like Toblerone or Nutella, and ovos moles (a specialty from Aveiro). The girls working there are friendly and efficient. Not expensive and the location is beautiful. Highly recommend it!

Bear in mind that this isn 't a restaurant it 's just a stall. They make the best tripas in Aveiro. Tripas are sweet, you can choose different types of fillings (chocolate, nutella or doce de ovos , my favourite. You must also try bolacha americana , they 're sooooo gooood! These are like biscuits. There are lots of stalls around but Zé das tripas is definitely the best. There 's usually a long queue but don 't be discouraged. You won 't regret it!
