Restaurant Le San Francisco

Situated above the port on disembarking on the Ile aux Moines. The welcome was so-so but the menu had some interesting seafood variations and the food was enjoyable. We ate on the terrace and the service was attentive without being overly so. Slightly over-priced but...understandable given the location.

We took the ferry to the island we were told there was a great choice of restaurants. We walked to Le Bourg and checked out the various restaurants on our way. After coffee in the square we made our way back some restaurants were already...full so decided to go back to the harbour and Le San Francisco. They had a wide range of Seafood and a set course lunch for with two choices per course. My husband and I chose different food each course so sampled the whole menu I had the fish and he had the steak. We enjoyed the meal we had to wait sometime as the restaurant was very busy but with a of white wine we were happy. We finished with coffee. Overall we thought the meal was good and we have noticed this year food prices have gone up and we have been paying in most places so not too costly for a weekend but I was disappointed at the cost of our drinks which came to We had a of white wine and coffees at I did check they had charged us for and not a bottle but it was correct and for me overpriced. I don't think I would return as I think the drinks were too much and it did spoil for me what had been a nice lunch out

This is an idyllic setting above the harbour is sheltered from the prevailing wind and has spectacular views of the bay it is conveniently close to the harbour yet ones feels peacefully away from the buzz of tourism. The food is possibly the best...seafood I have ever tasted, and at the same time great value. The fresh lobster is a must with the most delicious sauce and fish that was perfectly cooked again with delicious accompaniment, including sensational French fries all washed down with a very diverse wine list. The Premier Rendez-Vous, Montlouis Sur Loire goes very well with white meat and am going to order some for my cellar! We were not staying there but found it by far the best place on the island to eat for lunch or dinner and when we return will certainly book a room here, again with great views. Even our month old baby girl was so happy playing with our empty oyster shells and there was a very kind helpful manager and friendly staff (high chair provided). We will be back!

This is an ideal spot for a special meal overlooking the sea and port on the Ile aux Moines. Elegant, pleasant service delivers superb food. The Plateau is well stocked with fresh seafood and, of particular note, the bread with the meal is delicious. Good...wines, even those carafe. Not a cheap or rapid place to eat but a great place to be part of a day strolling round the beautiful island. This restaurant is a nice part of the total treat
