We had lunch with friends and kids and we were satisfied with the experience: very nice view and good oven-baked pizza.I must note that the service however was not the fastest and prices are high (to be expected when on a tourist-oriented island).I would return, but would also look at other options.
I was in the mood for a mixed drink so tried the one made with rum, coconut milk and grenadine--expecting an amazing tropical concoction. What I got for 11euros was a glass 1/3 filled. 95% rum with just a splash of coconut milk and grenadine you can see but not taste. Some might be happy to get a strong drink but I prefer something palatable and balance. I went to the bar to have them fill it up with pineapple juice but even that didn't make it tasty. The guy did offer to give me something else but if it was so horrible the first time, I can't imagine any other drink they make would be good. One of the worst drinks I had in a long time. If you go, order a beer, wine or soft drinks that they can't screw up.
Our first night on Porquerolles, we did like everyone else: hit a restaurant or terrace around the Place d’Armes and watch petanque. But then we found the right thing to do: follow the road/sidewalk around the port, towards the jetty, past the dive shops and ship yard to the very end where there is no sign, just a stone wall which to the left, leads to private boats and yachts, and to the right, to a small terrace with a handful of tables overlooking the beach and the glorious Mediterranean. The whole vista of vacation perfection is at La Plage terrace/restaurant. What could make it any better? Great drinks! My husband became quite infatuated with their Mojitos, filled with a handful of mint leaves, while I became quite familiar with the local wineries’ roses and reds (Domaine de l’Isle and L’Alycastre). Also recommend their pizzas, baked in a wood oven, which are delicious (much better that the pizzeria on the Place, and same price). Pizzas are intended for a single person, but are larger than the plate they come on; easily shared by two with a salad for a full meal. Turns out that much of their business is actually delivering pizzas to people on yachts in the port…
We trusted the opinions of google and we did well. We had a wonderful time. a beautiful smiling staff with little care. a map that makes you feel like a dish of the day and very affordable prices
