Bernie's Burger Bus - Houston

*I visited during covid19. Establishment followed all guidelines and precautions, which eased my timid nerves about eating out at this time. Parking is free and plentiful. Everyone was nice and professional. My cousin enjoyed their food as well. Burger, garlic fries, and lemonade. My food was SO good. I forgot the name of my burger, but it has a grill cheese sandwich for buns and two meat patties!! I'm greedy and the burger alone filled me up! You can ask what all comes on it, but I got mostly everything (minus mustard, jalapenos). Oooo, my Oreo shake was so go! I'd go back to this place just to order a shake. That's a real compliment from me...as I only enjoy DQ ice cream (Sonic as back up) when eating out. Next time, I'll order a large oreo shake instead of a small. We enjoyed the covered patio with fans. I'd definitely eat there again! You should absolutely try it at least once! Please see and like my photos! Ty!

Whew...We had to get out of the house and the first thing the family decided to do was grab a burger. And what better place than Bernie 's. I had heard about it on either the Food Network or the cooking channel so even though it took 45 minutes to get there, we were bound and determined to eat at the famous burger bus. I ordered The Cheerleader and the Green Chile Cheese Fries and a glass of water. (I was driving..wink. I made sure to tell the waiter that I wanted my patty cooked medium and he was quick to tell me that that wouldn 't be a problem. It wasn 't long until he returned with the meal in two brown paper bags. I don 't know if that is the usually way they serve the meals but it could have been because of COVID fears and not wanting to waste paper plates or napkins or.....I don 't know. You will be glad to know that the paper-bags didn 't affect the quality or the flavor of the food.The burger was cooked perfectly and the flavor was delicious. I was surprised to taste some sweetness in the burger, which our waiter informed me were the garlic tomatoes. I wish I had been told about that earlier. I 'm not a big fan of sweet tomatoes or pickles on my burgers or hot dogs. The green chile cheese fries, though were the BOMB. I wish I could have had 2 servings. I was surprised when I received the bill, though. for three burgers, two soft drinks and one fry the bill was just over 50 USD. WOW..Delicious but not THAT delicious. [That 's the reason for the 3 stars and not a solid 4. Lamentably, as I am writing this review I found out that the site has permanently closed because of COVID concerns. Sad. It has a lot of history that will have to live on in memory alone. Three stars...I would have gone back eventually. Bye for now.

Very good food and the service was excellent! Will come back, ate the substitute and my wife had the homeroom and very good

We came on a Saturday morning and we were promptly seated outdoors (it was a nice cool morning). The decor was awesome and I got super nostalgic towards school decor. Our waiter was extremely nice and patient even though it was our first time there. I got the Homeroom burger with truffle laced fries. Truffle oil fries are my fave so no complaints there! Haha. They give you an option of hard or runny egg with this burger and I went for the messy runny egg. Worth! It was extremely delicious and the egg yolk is able to run down and soak the patty and bacon and everything inside. I had my patty medium and it was perfect. It's very hearty, so I would recommend getting non heavy fries to accompany this. I could barely finish the burger and had to takeout the fries. My bf got the Fire Drill and it was nice and yummy with the slight heat and aioli on the buns. He definitely enjoyed all of it. He also got the Honor roll fries which had barbecue meat on top and it was super yummy and rich. Overall, we really enjoyed our pleasant experience here and the burger was unlike anything we've had before in a good way. The school decor was suuuper cute. The kitchen was basically a school bus and the wall of lockers led you to the restroom (which followed the school theme as well) hehe. We'll be coming back again

Great burger! But manager was rude, didnt know it wasnt a vape friendly place lol and the manager was talking about calling the police on me?
