Shoney's Family Restaurant - Hopewell

Food was not as hot as I'd like, but it was tasty. The food bar area was clean and staff were very polite. The ONLY thing I wish was out on the bar, maybe swap the cocktail sauce for Salsa and Sour Cream so weirdos like me can make Southwest style eggs, or potatoes...just a thought. Lol

We went in for breakfast, and decided on the buffet. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was good, but nothing was really hot. The food was lukewarm. It was as though the chafing dishes on the buffet bar wasn't working correctly. Other than that it was good.

Nothing like the Shoney's I grew up loving. The whole fish buffet seemed to be getting fresh food all the time I was there. But breading was gummy, not crisp and fresh like you'd think on the shrimp. Clam strips were rubbery, not soft like it should have been. The salad fixins were great though. Fresh lettuce, spinach, veggies and eggs. All were really fresh. Waitress was alright. I miss the old quality of Shoney's fish buffet from 25 years ago. Flaky and crispy fish and breading was amazing then.

Water was great, Seafood was dry as well as over cooked. I ask to have some fresh cooked lightly, was told no.I used to eat there more but not any more l would not give them one star way staff was actually was very loud with joking around with each other. Shiney's needs new staff or close the restaurant for good.

Breakfast was not pleasant at all. I went hungry and left hungry. I told my waitress some of the food on the breakfast bar was pungent.She informed the manager and whomever she was replied.
