Bidra med feedbackThis place is wicked good. We got the 5 piece fried halibut and fries, and it’s legitimately the best fish, fried or grilled, that we’ve had in Alaska. It wasn’t too crispy, and the fish was perfectly seasoned and still moist inside, positively bursting with flavor. We tried nearly all the restaurants and food carts in Homer’s Spit, and no other fish dish even came close. Definitely worth a stop, I’ve never seen my family fight for scraps from the container like this before! The only thing is that they’re cash only, so make sure to bring some with you when you visit.
This place was a little hard to find, but I am very glad we did. There is no inside seating but definitely don't let that stop you from eating here. The halibut was excellent, maybe the best we've had in Homer. I asked about cocktail sauce as only tarter was listed on the menu. They said that they did not generally have it. By the time we got our food, they had whipped up some for me. Large portions for the cost, and super fresh. Strongly recommend!
Before arriving in Homer, I discovered this restaurant online and immediately knew I had to stop by. And I’m glad I did! Just a heads up, it's a small takeout window offering carryout food only. The menu is quite good, and the person who took my order was friendly. I ordered the fish sandwich with fries, and let me tell you, I’ve tried many fish sandwiches, but this one might be my second favorite ever! The fish was incredibly crispy, perfectly seasoned, and delicious! And the fries? Wow, they were absolutely mouth-watering—definitely some of the best I’ve had on this trip to Alaska. Overall, if you’re in Homer, you MUST check out this spot for a fish sandwich. It truly ranks among the best I’ve had!
We began with the halibut chowder, and we were glad we didn't skip it. The flavors of the fresh ocean fish combined with freshly ground black pepper in the creamy chowder were perfectly balanced. Then came the halibut fish and chips. They don’t use the typical beer batter; instead, the fish is coated in a wonderfully crispy crust that's both light and not too salty, with no excess oil. The fish was undeniably fresh, tender, and flaky—definitely a cut above the average. The fries were well-seasoned and crispy, and the homemade slaw and tartar sauce complemented the meal beautifully. For us, it was perfection. To top it all off, the prices were very reasonable, and the couple who runs the place are warm and welcoming. They made it easy to chat for hours if they weren’t busy running the business. While there are plenty of good dining options in Homer, if you find yourself in this charming town, make sure not to miss Ak. Fish Fryers for a delicious meal! -Matt Celeste
The halibut is fresh, as many have noted, and fried impeccably. About 10 minutes after placing our order, we were served crispy, non-greasy halibut that was nicely seasoned. They provide a good amount of tartar sauce; however, if I had to offer a suggestion, it could use a bit more dill or flavorful pickles since it tastes a little bland. As for the fries, they were perfect—no complaints there. The service is friendly and quick. Just a heads up, bring your own drinks if you prefer not to buy bottled water or soda.
