Restaurant Marko - Hohenthurn

Very cozy, cozy restaurant. great food, the pork should die. good value, great atmosphere every day of the week.

For the case that they and above in this small town, this is the place where they can find most simply a table, since the restaurant is quite large and offers both internal and external seats, provided that they pay in cas. this said the general. quality is not remarkable and the service is under the normal Austrian standards.

Although the whole restaurant was empty, we were not offered for lunch. I can't imagine a whole restaurant being reserved.

A big part of “Restaurant Marko” is the pizzeria. Apart from the question why in the world you would go for a pizza in Noetsch, Austria when Tarvisio, Italy is only 15 minutes away by car, you are immediately disapponted when you inquire at “Marko”...about the ingredients they use in their pizzas. No, they don't use mozzarella on the pizza, but some nondescript “pizza cheese”. As I am insulted several time in the Netherlands with “pizza cheese”, pizza is defenitely not on at “Marko”. So do not order pizza there. Choosing from the menu with Austrian dishes, I ordered a salmon and polenta dish. The food was not bad, but the deception was that the fish in the dish was not genuine salmon but salmon trout. Furthermore, the ingredients used for my wife's dish seemed not completely up to the Austrian quality we are familiar with. Regarding the atmosphere, if it was the layout of the restaurant, the service of the staff or something else I cannot put my finger on, “Marko” never succeeds in creating the soothing and cosy atmosphere of a real Austrian restaurant. As “Marko” missed the target again and again, I will not go there again.
