Bidra med feedbackAfter a delicious wine tasting we were spoiled with a delicious Food and wine pairing one of my favorite wine farms. Views are incredible and the decor is not bad on the eyes either
We went to the Restaurant at the Newton Johnson whilst taking a short excursion to the Hemel en Aarde wine region of Hermanus. The vineyard is beautiful with sprawling views of the Overberg and Hermanus shore. The restaurant is quite new so the menu is fairly limited but everything we tasted was truly delicious. The seared tuna starter was perfectly cooked and the linefish main came with the most delicious Cape Malay sauce.I had heard Newton Johnson was popular for their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir so we sampled some wines before selecting a bottle. I must say I am not at all knowledgeable about wines but my mom in law knows her stuff and she was quite disappointed by the fact that the tasting room did not change tasting glasses between wines and did not speak in much technical detail about the wines. Perhaps due to my naivety shining through.Nevertheless we had a great day and I would certainly go back.
Picture perfect views over the hemel en aarde valley and wines to match. A new restaurant to complement the wine offerings looks to be a real winner. Well worth a visit.
Perfect setting in the heart of 'Hemel en Aarde '. Once you 've had the opportunity to adjust to the reality of the view, you are overwhelmed by the cuisine. When the bread is served you already know you are in for a journey never to forget. I had the chateaubriand for mains which was impeccable. Cheese platter for desert. If lunch is in this category then I can only imagine what dinner would be like. Definitely one of my SC (Southern Cross) restaurants. Well deserved place as a top 10 SA restaurant.
My boyfriend and myself went to dinner here today, superb food, fantastic service and an amazing view. I loved this place, we will be back soon. Thank you!
