Hickok's Steakhouse - Hays

We are staying at a hotel nearby and walked in today for dinner. Unfortunately, we were sat at a table close to the door and the wind kept blowing in. It wasn?t a big deal and we ordered our food. When it came out, it looked great. Service was a little slow, but the server was young and trying his best. The chicken fried chicken had a good taste, but the chicken looked like banquet TV dinner chicken. The mashed were cold and the fries were flavorless. My partner ate most of the lobster, but nothing else. It was flavorless and the rice wasn?t good at all. In all, it was $60+ and most of it was wasted. To make matters worse, I was sick before even finishing my meal. I tried to go to the bathroom but there was only one stall and someone else was feeling how I was. I had to run to my hotel where I got sick. Can?t recommend here by any means.

Was excited to get the sweet potato mash, was very disappointed. It came with a small sprinkle of a granola type thing on top. No cinnamon, no sugar. It was VERY bland. Got the side salad, it was tiny- and had hardly any lettuce! My steak was fine, but it didnt get cooked correctly and i had to send it back. The service was great. She was attentive and I was greeted quickly when I entered.

We shared a meatloaf meal with onion soup and salad. Many items were too expensive to consider and the restaurant was out of many sides, rice eta. The plus is when you state you are sharing a meal, it arrives to your table on two separate dishes. Meat loaf was tender but mashed potatoes were no more than powdered spuds with gravy. Honestly, I was dissatisfied with the cuisine ??, the staff were friendly??. Firstly, it was not clear to me why they brought me a menu with the wrong prices. And most importantly, the steak is 35, it was cooked as if steamed, only the taste of pepper was felt. The potato tasted like old sunflower oil.

Very friendly service. Generous serving of wine. Food was really good. I ordered Chicken Alfredo and got mac and cheese as my side. Mac and cheese was smokey flavored, different but all right. Would recommend this restaurant.
