WAGAYA - Haymarket

We have been eating here since it opened and was once the best Japanese in Sydney. After not eating there for a year, we went last night. In a nut shell, it was a shadow of its former self. Food over cooked, service average and decor in urgent need of renovation. Toilets disgusting and covered in graffiti. Really sad it's lost it's way. Definitely our last trip there.

Dined here in the 31-7-17 for my boytfriends birthday. Wasn't too hard to find. Walking up the stairs it was pretty dark looking and they were playing the top hits of Australia...Was expecting Japanese music... most of the night it was playing Katy perry. We were shown to our seat and sat in a booth. It had a touch screen to order your food and the food and drinks come out really quick so spread your food out. The service isn't that great they don't make contact with you or accept us saying thank for bring something out. My Boyfriend ordered some sake and enjoyed it and I had sake cocktail the blue one was so good. We order food wise Octopus balls tasted but a tiny bit of octopus ? Tempura prawns, yumSpicy friend chicken, was nice. Chicken katsu curry n rice, wasn't enough sauce and was quite dry Tempura sushi roll, yum. Salmon skewer, average. Tofu with soup, soup was good but tofu was very soggy? And not tasted strange. The toilets are disgusting. Rundown, dirty dark, broken! Don't even want to talk about it as it was gross. It was a bad experience dining here, not sure if I'll be back. Needs to be revnonated.

This place has an amazing interior and had the deals for $9.99. All the food was lovely and amazing value for money.

Food was delicious and the staff were friendly.During busy hours its always good to book as we waited 45 mins for a table for 4 and the restaurant seems a little rushed for time. The food did take a lot longer to come out than usual restaurants but it was well worth it.Recommed you get a booth instead of a table as it makes your dining experience more personal.

The food took alot longer to come out and wasn't as fresh i thought it would be. We had a booth and were with children - the restaurant isn't pram friendly so you need to carry the pram up and down stairs. It was extremely noisy in the restaurant and it was difficult to talk to our party.
