Amazing food. I love the whisky pimento sandwich, and the drunken veggie burger! Yum!! The space is clean and cool and has a wonderful front porch. Bar tender makes a great martini! I come here about every time I come to Hattiesburg. They also have fun events and live music.

The food here is excellent. E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T. The grilled brie sandwich with pepper jelly spread is amazing. The bean salad is also incredible and perfectly filling. It's always a bit slow ordering up at the bar but then they make your food very quickly. In regards to the building, it is very spacious for organized events. There is also a stage for a band as well as a large outdoor patio. This is truly a little gem in Hattiesburg.

This is probably my favorite non-fancy bar in town. Pours strong drinks, has a good bottle and draft selection for very reasonable prices, and remarkably solid bar food. It's my burger of choice in Hattiesburg, though looks unassuming at first glance. My one suggestion would be more consistency in how the beef is cooked, sometimes the burger is more done than other times.

If you like good beer, and you like good music, the Thirsty Hippo is for you. If you like overpriced beer, and you like bad music, the Hippo is not for you. You can try the Bottling Company instead if that's what you're looking for. Seriously, the owners of this place know what they're doing. As the previous reviewer mentioned, it may look like a hole in the wall, but give it a chance and you'll see that it truly is an amazing place. Note: This place is a beer-only bar, meaning don't expect to get cocktails or wine. All things considered, not a beer on the menu over $4, most going for $2 or $3. The music is great. It's very diverse ranging from indie rock to blues to folk to hip hop to you name it. Most of the acts who play here are really talented musicians, and even if it's not a genre you're normally into, the atmosphere makes it enough to enjoy. Just go. It'll be worth your time.

Premier music venue in Downtown Hattiesburg with some terrific live music, and a great restaurant and bar in its own right! One of my favorite hamburgers in the Pinebelt, especially when topped with their whiskey pimento cheese. Their red beans and rice are tasty at The Hippo or at Live 5, and their red bean hummus with fresh veggies is the perfect appetizer. The back room makes for a perfect venue for luncheons, workshops, etc. Great spot in Downtown Hattiesburg.
