Bidra med feedbackI had my first Sandwich Man sub over 30 years ago. Unwrapping the rust colored butcher paper unveiled a truly great sub. The subs were huge and the rolls fresh crusty on the outside, soft and bready on the inside. Sublime. Sadly, my recent visit was nothing like the first. Eight dollars gets you what used to be a half sub, not a whole sub. The half roll was a day old, which ruins the experience, as the roll cracks and falls to pieces. The provolone cheese was thin and dry and, like the roll, cracked into pieces. And the thing was built by laying the roll flat and stacking roast beef, iceburg lettuce leaves (didn't they formerly shred the lettuce? and slabs of good tomato into a pile so thick and inflexible that simply closing the sandwich to eat it instead destroyed it. Crumbly mess. Not good. At least the butcher paper has not changed in 30 years. Let's get back to basics. A fresh roll. A carefully built sandwich that closes and holds together. But don't change the butcher paper. I will come back, but I expect a fresh roll next time.
I was looking for a place to grab a quick sandwich and stumbled onto this gem! Extensive menu at reasonable prices, and the for was great. I ordered the Turkey Rachel sandwich and it was fabulous. Definitely worth a stop to check it out.
Delicious corned beef Reuben. Loved the flavors. Not salty. The shop is rustic and filled with hungry souls getting their needs met. We found this place via Yelp and were very satisfied. I give it 5 stars because it really did exceed our expectations as a lunch time stop.
Yeah not great. The tuna sandwich has a weird egg mix to it. Couldn't finish it, and still not feeling great from the experience a few hours later. Nice enough folks, but not great sandwiches sadly.
Old favorite. People keep saying it is better than Subway. Well, heck yeah. I don't know why anyone in the N.E would eat a sandwich from Subway aka the McDonald"s of sandwiches. OK, back on topic. My favorite at the Sandwich man is a Turkey sub with L,T,O, light oil and vinegar, mayo, bacon and sweet peppers. It is beyond good. Yum. They make a good Ruben too.
