The Railway Tavern is the quintessential English pub that locals dream of. With its dark decor, it exudes a traditional pub atmosphere and offers a menu of slightly pricier but well-prepared meals. While the food selection may not be extraordinary, there is enough variety to satisfy most meat eaters, although vegetarians may struggle to find options. I highly recommend trying the jerk chicken burger, and guests can also enjoy tasty bar snacks like pork and scotch eggs with their drinks. One unique feature of The Railway Tavern is the traditional pub game by the entrance, which may initially appear intimidating but is actually a swinging target game resembling a turtle. Just be careful not to accidentally hit anyone on the head with it! See if you can guess what it is from the not-so-great photo below.
This cozy pub has a welcoming atmosphere, a wide variety of ales, and a staff that is very knowledgeable about their beer selection. It's important to note that they do not serve Guinness. The decor is impressive, the staff is fantastic, and they host enjoyable quiz nights. Plus, they are dog friendly! The food is decent, but not outstanding. Unfortunately, my burger was overcooked and quite disappointing. However, they have a lovely beer garden. Overall, it's worth a visit to this unique pub.
This is a great pub with friendly staff, located close to Broadway and Tower. The buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce and whitebait were excellent. The burger was a bit lacking in seasoning, which was disappointing. The chips were delicious and still tasted great when reheated. The beer garden is definitely worth another visit.
Beautiful little quirky pub, full of random pictures and memories. I have held a frying dinner here on a Sunday as I am on a mission to find the best Sunday roast in london (see my reviews for some of the best). I had the brittle wine and my friend had the chicken. both were beautiful, the bratkartoffels were delicious, perfectly crispy outside and fluffy on the inside. the gay itself was in order, I prefer a lot of a piece of pork with the crisp on the top, but that was cut pork and a little over boiled, not too much taste unfortunately. also the sticky toffee pudding was ok. not very warm and a little dry, but surely a hole filled. the staff is super friendly and very efficient. the open log fire is a massive bonus. would come back for it alone.
