Bidra med feedbackWe waited about 40 minutes for our food without any updates (we were her only table). THIS IS WHERE THINGS WENT WRONG... the food arrived ice cold! It felt like it had been sitting out for a while. My mom’s steak was nearly inedible due to the temperature. My brother-in-law and I had Mac and Cheese that tasted nothing like homemade; it was reminiscent of Kraft with an excessive amount of milk—way too much. As for the sides, both our plates had a corn on the cob. So much for not coming with sides! The problem was that he doesn’t like corn. At no point did the server come to check in and ask us what sides we would prefer. We only saw her when she took our drink order, our food order, delivered the food, and brought the check. We spent quite a bit of time there (including the 40-minute wait for our food). Lastly, my $8 surcharge for two tiny pieces of lobster meat was ridiculous. I should have received much more for that price. Overall, this experience was disappointing. We vacation every year in Provincetown on Cape Cod and always have wonderful dining experiences. The one time we decide to explore somewhere else in New England, we end up with this. I can't help but wonder if there was any bias at play since my mom looks Hispanic (even though she isn't), my brother-in-law is Black, and I’m gay. Maybe we were just too diverse for this establishment. We eventually returned to our hotel and went out to eat in Portsmouth, where the experience was completely different and far superior.
We waited 45 minutes for our meals, and when we inquired about the delay, we were informed that they had just started preparing our food. With three hungry kids, we decided to leave and find somewhere else to eat. The manager tried to justify the long wait by saying the food was made fresh, but we believe that using fresh ingredients should actually allow for quicker cooking times. The dishes we ordered should have taken a maximum of 30 minutes to prepare. We were disappointed, and while they did comp our drinks (sodas), we won’t be returning the next time we’re in the area.
This was an incredible find! I was worried that the low prices might mean the food wouldn't be great, but I was pleasantly surprised. Our server, Brittany, was fantastic. My twin lobster tail dinner came with two generously sized tails, and my husband loved his baked haddock—though I didn't get a chance to taste it myself. We will definitely return to see Kenny!
It's been years since I last visited Cascade Cafe, which used to be one of my favorite restaurants. However, I recently discovered that there has been a change in management.
It's hard to imagine anyone having a less than excellent experience here. The laid-back atmosphere may not be ideal for everyone, especially for those who find it difficult to relax and enjoy the moment. The food is exceptional, and the servers and staff are prompt and attentive.
