Bidra med feedback2/12/22 8:15 pm, I visited with 2 friends. The atmosphere was pleasant, we were greeted with smiles, laughter and music. Our waiter was cool. Then we received cold food, not even lukewarm. I only order medium well steak from my regular steakhouses. This day I chose Well done. My steak came out cold and pink all over. The flavor profile for the potatoes was great, the steak was seasoned, it was just cold and not cooked to the correct temperature. The sautéed onions belongs on hotdogs not steak. My friend sent her food back (slab ribs) . We packed and left. The drinks were great, atmosphere great, food not so much. $150 down the drain. Waves at management. Talk to the cook.
Awful experience. Feddy the waitress gave us wrong drinks. Prime rib ordered medium rare came out well . No bread. Waited an hour for food. Never offered appetizer, dessert or coffee. Did not post that gratuity was automatic on a party of 3. Service was not worth the 20%. No manager in sight. What a slop house. Ruined my Mother's Day and our son's 21st birthday. We will never go back. I spent 30 yrs in the restaurant industry. I never complain. Go somewhere else.
An Old School Classic !! While on Business in the Hammond area last year I was looking for a 'new ' place to eat. The front desk at the Marriot Residence Inn in Hammond recommended Freddies to me. From what I was told it was a two in one, a local favourite and a throwback classic Steakhouse. When I was getting close to Freddies, I noticed it was in a sort of industrial area, and the building on the outside looked a little sketchy. When I entered, I felt like I went back a few decades in time. Freddies is a remnant of the old school steakhouses that you find in most cities. I was greeted warmly and sat fairly quickly, even though I did not have a reservation. My server who was a great gal greeted me with a smile, went over the features and told me that Lake Perch was a local favourite in Northern Indiana and that it was a feature that night. Now, It is not the first time that I 've gone to a steakhouse and ate something else, so I was game. The meals served at Freddies, at least mine that night came with a sort of ice cold vegetable salad, with a side of veggie dip. The veggies were fresh, crisp and very high quality. As an appetizer, I ordered a cup of Seafood Chowder, which surprisingly didn 't look that appealing, but it was very very good. When my entree came it was very simple in the presentation, lightly battered fingers of perch, but what more can you do to present the dish? I switched to a nice white wine and went to town on those delicious bad boys. I was impressed with the quality and freshness of the fish. it reminded me of catching perch in Ontario and eating them right on the shore. The decor inside is a relic of the past, the staff are older elegant people and the crowd is a good mix of older and younger people. I most certainly will visit Freddie 's again and hopefully try their steak next time.
We enjoyed spending our date night at Freddy’s Steakhouse, our waitress Jodi was outstanding and attentive checking on us frequently throughout out dinner. I had the rack of ribs, they fell off the bone. No complaints .We will be back
Great food and great service. It reminds you of a 1970s gangster bar straight outta the Godfather or Good Fellas. The vibe is SUPER old school, but it works. A must visit if you're in the Hammond, Indiana.
