La Colonnetta - GROTTAFERRATA

I can't understand why we did not asked to see the menu, but we didn't. The waiter did some suggestions and we ordered pasta con funghi. Later we found out that the price of that dish was € 13,00. And that was way to much. We had for less much better. Not a place to come back to.

And a damn fine job they're doing! We have been frequenting La Colonnetta for at least 20 years and it's always been a great experience. The dining room is rustic with two huge fireplaces; the outdoor tables for summer are well shaded and attractive. The sons of the original owner have now taken over and continue the tradition of creating dishes that are genuine and grounded in the local cuisine. Pasta with olive oil, garlic, chili pepper and tomato was a treat as were the sausages in red wine sauce and the skewered veal rolls. Dessert was outrageous a whipped cream and chocolate fondent concoction that will put anyone's diet on the skids. Service is kind, professional, and mannerly. €60 covered complete meals for the two of us. By all means, come here after visiting the abbey.
