Bidra med feedbackWe came here on a wine tour and it was a wonderful experience despite pouring rain. The winery is small, family run and on steep hills so all the grapes must be picked by hand. The views even in the rain were stunning. All the food is home produced, simple and fresh. We had genuine Chianina beef you can see their cows unlike so much that is claimed to be in Florence but isn't. All the bread, pasta is home made they even grind the flour, so you will not have traditional pasta like this anywhere else. We were lucky enough to come in the Spring when the irises were in bloom so it was completely beautiful.
We came here for lunch as part of a private wine tour and were treated to a wine tasting and some of the freshest food of our entire stay. The outdoor patio, nestled among the farmhouse and actual farm, has a breathtaking view of the Tuscan hills. Just say yes to whatever food the waitress/owner’s wife suggests and you’ll be in for a treat.
Our group of 16 came here for lunch on a day long tour of wineries in the area, and had a fabulous lunch. The pastas were delicious and the beef was something special. Simple and perfectly prepared in the local tradition. I would definintely go out of my way to dine here again. The owners were so gracious, even as we were running late, and the service was excellent. The traditional Il Vegliardo wine served was a favorite of many of the group. Well done by this small family farm, restaurant and vineyard.
Our first wine tasting tour in Tuscany brought us to this small, family run winery on a warm, sunny afternoon. Our group of 10 were seated at an outdoor table with an incredible view and enjoyed some wonderful wines along with antipasti followed by a delicious lasagna lunch. Perfect way to start our holiday with friends! And the trek up a short hill to see the cows made for some cute pictures.
We really enjoyed our lunch stop at Castellinuzza e Piuca. This is a very very small working olive farm and winery in the winding roads and mountains of Chianti south of Greve in Chianti. Driving is an adventure and quite a ride! The views are magnificent. Due to a mix up, the family member who spoke some English was not there, but the grandparents who only spoke Italian warmly greeted us. We ate a yummy lunch and drank some Chianti at an outside table overlooking the valley below. The grandfather walked us around the property showing us the wine cellar, the olive trees, and the huge white horses. We loved getting off the beaten track. This is a family who is really working the land. They used to work it as sharecroppers and eventually they were able to buy it. Wonderful.
