Bidra med feedbackThe Japanese fried chicken alone is enough to bring me back for another visit—the soy caramel sauce was absolutely addictive! I also tried the steamed pork buns and the tonkotsu ramen. The pork buns were decent; both the pork and the bun were cooked perfectly, but they lacked the flavor of the other dishes. I might skip them next time. The tonkotsu ramen, however, had excellent pork and a flavorful broth. I actually enjoyed it even more after I thinned out the broth a bit and reheated everything. All the items were packaged exceptionally well for takeout. This is definitely the only ramen in town that can compete with Ika/Ikasan.
I ordered the Tonkotsu for delivery, and the toppings were fantastic. However, the broth was a different story—it resembled brown gravy from Thanksgiving. It was incredibly salty, to the point that it would have overwhelmed the dish even if the broth hadn't been so thick. This was my first experience with Ivan Ramen, and I'm not sure if I'd give it another try.
When I discovered that Ivan Ramen had opened in Omaha, I was quite surprised to see a ramen restaurant made famous by Netflix coming to our Midwest city. I'm pleased to say that Ivan Ramen truly lives up to the hype and is absolutely fantastic. I've tried (I believe) all the ramen options in Omaha, and Ivan Ramen distinguishes itself with its unique noodle preparation and high-quality ingredients. I ordered the Shoyu ramen along with a side of the spicy Kyuru pickles, and both dishes definitely deserve a perfect 5-star rating.
Corn country dimwits. They can’t even tell me if Ivan Ramen is in the building at 416 12th. I was asked if “He’s a chef” by the host. Please don’t connect yourself with New York.
I wish I would have taken some photos. We heard of Ivan from a friend and we're excited to try it. It was nice to get some ramen and some sushi. We did takeout. The food was actually ready before the time that was quoted. I had the SPICY RED CHILI (dashi chicken broth, shoyu-glazed chashu, soft egg, bok choy) which no joke was super spicy. The presentation was really nice but sadly both the both and the other ingredients were not warm so I needed to put them in another bowl and microwave them. The spicy part was no joke. It was so spicy that I could not finish the broth. I like spicy but when it's too hot you can't taste anything. My spouse had the TONKOTSU RAMEN (rich pork broth, shoyu-glazed chashu, woodear mushrooms, pickled mustard greens, soft egg, and Maui). He says it was good but it felt like the broth was too concentrated. Parts of the broth seemed like a slurry of better than bouillon which wasn't great. He thought it had a good flavor though. We also had the SPICY KYURI PICKLES (Persian cucumbers, spiced rice vinegar). They were great. We definitely would like to try Ivan again. They will be a nice addition to the Omaha ramen scene.
