Bidra med feedbackWas pleasantly surprised about this awesome neighborhood gem. The Location is very convenient to find as well as lots of parking front back. The place was very clean, inviting friendly. The menu had a lot of different choices. We had breakfast, food was amazing.Has a 50's diner decor. Prices are reasonable.
I think this was a great diner! We stopped here for breakfast after church on Sunday. It was just after 11am, and pretty slow, which was surprising. The hostess very quickly greeted and sat us in the dining room near the ice cream bar. I love the retro feel this place has I would love to know the history of the building! The dining room was a little chilly, but that was likely due to being seated close to the door. Everything was very clean from the menus to the bathrooms! I ordered coffee and a veggie omelette. My boyfriend ordered a diet and the sunrise burrito. Both meals were really good, and the homemade strawberry jam served with my English muffin was delicious! My only gripe was that I asked for American fries (cubed), and opted to add onions at the waitresses suggestion, but ended up being served hash browns. I didn't mention it to the server, so there wasn't an opportunity for her to fix it, but I'm sure they would've happily replaced them if it were a big deal. We got out the door for $30 with tip. Not bad! Excited to try that Michigan made ice cream soon!
Cheshire Kitchen had kind of fallen off my radar but I had a gift certificate to use so my boyfriend and I stopped in one weekend morning recently. The theme inside is retro diner, with fun color schemes (one red room, one blue room, and a green room). The booth we sat in was comfy and our server was on the spot. I ordered the Benedict that has sausage patties and cheese sauce. My boyfriend got the Bootlegger omelette, which he really liked. The Benedict was pretty good and the eggs were poached perfectly. The cheese sauce was lacking flavor, but a little hot sauce helped. It is definitely a super rich dish and could probably be split between two less-hungry people! The hash browns were just okay, nothing special and not that tasty. However, it was a nice breakfast outing and I was happy to support this local business. I wouldn't run back right away but I wouldn't say no if someone asked me to go here again.
I came here for a late breakfast on Sunday. I ordered a platter for over $10 that included a side of biscuits and gravy. When it came it looked bad but I decided to try it out, it was COLD. I took a bite and actually ended up spitting it out bc of how cold it was and the texture of the gravy. I politely asked my server for a fresh batch because it was cold. She snatched the plate and didn't apologize at all. She came back like a minute or two later and throws the same plate on the table. No steam, seems like they put it in the microwave for a minute. I flagged down the server and asked if I could speak to a manager. She proceeded to tell me that she was in fact the owner and that they were currently making a fresh batch but did not offer to bring me any. I kindly asked her to take it off the bill. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my life. I don't know if the business owner is racist or just was having a bad day, but I'm never spending my money there again.
This place is so cute! I love how it is decorated. Our server was friendly and helpful, and the food was hot and fresh when it was served to . They accommodate gluten free needs, which was helpful too. My husband enjoyed his cheeseburger and fries, which were generously portioned, and I thought the Chivado wrap was delicious. We will plan to eat here again when we are in Grand Rapids. There are other items on the menu that we would definitely like to try.
