Black Kettle - George Town

I had a pleasant experience at this cafe, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the cake. It could have used more lemon flavor to suit my taste. However, I did enjoy the delicious hot honey lemon drink.

I ordered Tiramisu canelé, which was slightly better than the usual one but still okay. The Vanilla canelé, however, was the worst. It lacked any good aroma of rum and instead tasted like it had been left in the refrigerator for a few days. The texture was also off, making it taste even worse. Neither canelé was crispy. The Hot Latte was okay, but nothing special. The interior design and atmosphere of the restaurant are good, making it more of a place for Instagram-worthy photos.

I ordered a hot latte and was pleased to receive a truly hot latte, not just warm. It even came with a cookie, which was a nice touch. I also asked for chicken to be added to my salad, and they happily accommodated my request. The balsamic dressing on the salad was just right, not too tangy. I was delighted to find radishes, oranges, tomatoes, and a mix of red and green lettuce in the salad. The restaurant has a spacious and relaxing atmosphere that makes it hard to leave. I'm currently enjoying my second latte, served in a glass. Additionally, they provide free filtered water at both cold and room temperature, along with nice water cups (not paper). Coffee was nice. Nice cafe/restaurant inside. We ordered breakfast, sourdough with toppings. The portions were incredibly small, barley any avocado on the toast and the poached egg wasn't cooked (the white was still a bit runny). The food was edible but not what I would expect for the price.

Generally good service but slow. Can always work on improving freshness and quality of food.
