You have been warned by the title. Went to this place after seeing some good reviews and what a mistake. The food was terrible, half cooked and small portions. Menu price 9 euro pp. What a cheek. The stater soup had hard rice in it and the main dish consisted of 3 meatballs swimming in sauce and chips. Dessert was made up of a supermarket flan.
We stopped off in this bar for a cold beer on our way down from the castello. No English spoken here but a good welcome and plenty of smiles. We had a cold beer and after a while we were approached by the chef asking if we wanted to eat, mostly in sign language, mine and his. I asked for a menu and I'm not sure there is one but he took me to the food counter, then into the kitchen to see what was cooking. Then he showed my wife. We sort of agreed he would provide a meal of his making. What arrived was delicious, basically 3 eggs and chips but with a delicious almond based Andalusian sauce, garlic, peppers, and samples of some of his meat. It was delicious. We returned a couple of days later (spent 10 days in Gaucin) and went through a similar routine where chef brought 2 raw cod loins to show us, and offered to cook us, in what fashion we had no idea. We agreed to start with some of his salad, a potato/tomato/tuna mix that was delicious. After that the cod arrived, cooked in a delicious sauce, with potatoes, peppers, delicious cloves of garlic, a fabulous meal. That cod dish was the most memorable meal of our stay.
Nice local bar in the village on the corner . We had anchovies with tomato on bread with marinated vegetables. Fantastico !!! Highly recommend.
