Bidra med feedbackExcellent aperitivo, note only at lunch time Definitely worth going to try and not expensive at all.
Delicious tapas-style fish dishes, the host Veronica explained each dish and I especially enjoyed the prawns in sweet potato and the garlicky-octopus. Great prices and lovely staff. Do visit early to ensure you get the catch of the day!
We stumbled across this place when looking for a place for a quiet coffee. Having spotted another table eating tapas we decided we'd order our own wow fantastic local tapas. Seafood, Cheese, and local bread all cooked wonderfully. Veronica was a wonderful host; explaining all the tapas as well as the local attractions. She even gave us a complementary shot of poncha to finish the meal. A lovely host and great food. Don't be put off by the limited number of reviews they only started serving local tapas within the last month. Well worth a visit and we'll be goong back next time we're in Funchal.
Found this lovely little bar/restaurant whilst en route to the cable car station for Monte. Veronica was a wonderful host and gave us loads of info and tips for Funchal. The food fresh and tasty and reasonably priced as were the drinks.
You go to the boteco for the poncha, sure. But also, and not in the least, for the experience. The owner always makes your visit into a party. He not just mixes the ponchas, he makes a complete show of it, a happy, funny show. We love the poncha abacaxí com menta, pineapple and mint. But there's a poncha for every taste: regional (lime), maracujá (passions fruit), morango (strawberry), etc. They serve dishes and sandwiches as well, which we have never tried, but other people have assured us the food is good.
