Bidra med feedbackMy mother suggested Red Horse for Thanksgiving when she found out they would be open. Biggest mistake ever. Where to start? I paid $320 for 6 plates of the most average and mundane food ever. Halfway through my Prime Rib I was wondering if Texas Road House was open. The sides were bland at best. Best restaurant in Frederick, in my humble opinion. The service is warm, ambience inviting and portion generous. The steak is fresh and incredible and they've got great seafood option as well, all locally sourced.
The first issue I noticed upon entering was the strong smell of mold and mildew. I understand that the restaurant has history, but cleanliness is essential. The second issue is that the place gives off an upscale vibe, and I can tell it has the potential to be great—or perhaps it was at one time. We ordered some basic dishes to get a sense of the place, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The shrimp was undercooked; I discovered this both by taste and by appearance, and it seemed to be freezer burned as well. On a brighter note, the chicken for the kids was actually very good.
We visited the Red Horse with a group of eight, and everyone had an amazing time! It's a fantastic place for delicious steaks and seafood. The service was excellent, and the cocktails were superb. We even got to see our steaks being grilled to perfection! We’ll definitely be returning!
I ordered through DoorDash, and I found it quite challenging to place an online order for steak. However, I ended up selecting a filet, which was cooked to perfection. The potatoes just needed a bit of salt and pepper, and I opted for a balsamic tomato on the side. It was absolutely delicious!
