Stewart's Shops - Fort Plain

I rolled into town later in the evening one day while riding my bike from Buffalo to Albany. Staying the night at the lock. Was looking for a place to get food. Very pleased when I saw this store. Said to myself while riding up, Please have beer! . They did and have a section where the ladies will make you huge and awesome sub sandwiches. I got to the campsite and thought it would nice to get some firewood. Called back over and asked if they had any. She said they normally do, but had sold out. Then told her over the phone how much I enjoyed my sandwich. Stopped back in the morning for another sandwich before getting on the road. If you 're riding your bicycle on the Erie Canal Trail or NY Bike Rt 5 and are staying at the lock these guys have you covered and I fully recommend a stop. Only a couple blocks from the campsite or right off the trail. Just want to tell them to always have firewood. I know it 's tough to control what outside venders can deliver to them. So I don 't hold it against them and didn 't take any Stars off.

Whenever we visit family in the area, my children and I always make a point to stop by Stewart's first. We particularly miss the breakfast sandwiches (on a hard roll) among the other tasty options. During our most recent visit, the sandwich we wanted wasn't available in the display case. We asked if they could make it for us, even though they were busy, and both times, Donna was exceptionally kind and eager to help. It was truly appreciated to see someone go the extra mile and show such kindness.

I have a great appreciation for Stewart's and the wonderful staff there. They always ensure there's plenty of coffee available, are incredibly helpful when needed, and are super friendly hard workers.

I attempted to call and order a pizza for more than 10 minutes, but no one answered the phone. I live nearby and can see that the parking lot is not busy at all. On other occasions, when I've gone into the store for milk, I've noticed three employees on duty, yet the shelves are empty while there are crates of milk sitting in the cooler. It's quite disappointing to see such a poorly managed store.
