Bidra med feedbackWe tried to grab a drink at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and were promptly turned away. Despite there being plenty of unoccupied tables, we were informed that all tables were booked and the overflow area was full. It seemed unlikely that all the reservations were arriving at the exact same time, and it would have been nice if at least one table could have accommodated us for 30 minutes. The staff didn't seem willing to check availability and were somewhat rude in turning us away. This is not the way to treat potential customers, and perhaps some staff training is in order to improve customer service and welcome. We were very disappointed, especially for a country pub that relies on walk-in customers.
The Sunday lunch was absolutely fantastic. We had 6 meals with 3 different meats and a variety of vegetables. The value was fabulous. Make sure to book in advance!
Our favourite place to eat outside Chester. We have been coming to treat ourselves for over 5 years and never disappointed. This time we brought our Spanish friends for Friday dinner. We all loved our food. Steaks were cooked as requested and chef kindly shared Fish pie. Serving girls were very helpful and attentive. We see you soon.
Absolutely shocking. I felt like Gordon Ramsey critiquing, but by god he’s the only person who can save that place Consider you book in advance, no one bats an eyelid when you walk in. Just giant menus to look at right next to the door. The music goes from 10 back-to-back stereophonics b-sides, to alien ant farm and blink 182? Love those bands but it was bizarre. Then the food… me. More moisture in a twigglet. Got the deserts for free because there was bits of R2 D2 found in both. First ever trip advisor review I’ve ever done. Might seem harsh to some, I know. A restaurant that seems to of been there for ever… if it was spoons then I’d of let it slide. But to charge £18-£28 for their meals? Surely not 1.5/10
Lets start with the car park, which is across the road which my elderly parents were nervous crossing, leaving was even worse as it's on a bend and not safe to pull out of. We sat for ages at our table, waiting for someone to bring the menu, finally I went to the bar to ask and was shown the menu an oversized blackboard by the door that I had to hijack and take to the table so everyone could read as it was in the doorway. I asked about vegetarian options and was told that, if I didn't eat fish, I could have goats cheese risotto or a starter made up as a main course (sorry, but there's only so much garlic bread I can eat! . Luckily I eat fish, I say luckily because about 50% of the menu was fish! I went for the cod and chips, but the fish still had it's skin on and the batter was soggy, so it wasn't particularly appetising and I left half, the chips had no taste at all. The gammon for my parents came with no veg or salad. My sister's chicken kiev was dry. Over priced mediocre food. It's not exactly cheap and so you expect a little more. You'll be disappointed. At the prices they're charging, get some menus printed, employ staff who don't think that Hake and Cod are the same thing (news to me! , find a new chef and get a mirror put up so people have a chance of getting out of the car park alive, oh, and put some effort into the toilets, even a sign telling you where they are would be a start, but they're tired and dirty looking. I won't be returning and have cancelled a booking I'd made for my works party.
