I don't live anywhere near here but I happened to come across this place while on a trip and decided to try it for lunch. This restaurant looks like a favorite local hangout, old-fashioned but comfortable. They don't have waitstaff so you have to place your order at the counter. The menuboard behind the counter was huge, so I didn't really read through everything but prices looked reasonable. Since they have breakfast all day, I tried a scrapple and eggs platter. It turned out pretty good, comparable to some of the better NJ diners.
The After is a great family restaurant! We have been going there since we moved to Flanders. My kids are in college now and when they come home on breaks, The After is first on thier list. We have eaten almost everything on the menu over the years!! Some of our favorites are the Reubens, Chicken cordon bleu sandwich, and the Phillysteaks. They have all homemade soups and salads. I particularly love the coleslaw!! If you don't see it on the menu, ask, and if they can they will make it for you. The breakfast prices for omelets can't be beat. I highly recommend. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
We found this place by mistake on the way home from visiting Chester. For us, it was a scary place (interracial couple), so we knew we were staying for the food. We got ice cream and inhave to say, it was fantastic! We are fools for ice cream so compared to Cold Stine and Applegate, their concoctions held their own; creamy, flavorful and generous portions. We will stop here for ice cream all year long. The inconsistentancy with the food might be due to the fact that people working there seem under age and hungry themselves (just a guess).
