Auberge U Fuconu - Figari

On our way to Figari airport, which is a very small airport that doesn't have a proper shop or restaurant to get some lunch, we stopped here for a quick bite. We sat outside on a nice terrace, and as Figari is built on a hill, you look out over the lower plains with the airport in the distance. We expressed the fact that we had a plane to catch and were served quickly but pleasantly. The food is fine, but not brilliant. But in line with what can expect from an auberge in a small village. And reasonably priced. All-in-all a nice experience.

We dined here as a group of four on a Wednesday night outside of the school holiday period. The night is important as on this night as traditional music is played live at the restaurant on this night, booking to dine is essential. The venue is packed both inside an on the footpath on both sides of the road. The atmosphere is electric with the staff charging across the operational main road without hesitation to present patrons with food and drinks.The menu features only local meat, vegetables, beer and wines. Three courses, with three to four selections in each course. On the evening of our meal main course featured chestnut and beef gnocchi, wild pig with crepe and slow cooked lamb on the bone. The food was abundant and cooked to perfection. The friendly staff dispense bread and local aperitifs at will. The aperitif is rocket fuel. One of my friends is gluten intolerant and was able to eat food from every course.The owner and his staff personify the passion of the local Corsicans, engaging with the locals and tourists; ribbing and cajoling throughout the evening. A party atmosphere is promoted for what is better described as an evening event rather than a meal.Cost for the event for all members eating three courses with a bottle of wine and coffees wound out to 165 Euros. More than reasonable given the delights presented throughout the night.

Oprecht puur Corsicaanse gerechten, heerlijk !! Plek leuk, terras leuk, en de eigenaar staat in de keuken ! Nogmaals een echte aanrader !!! Oh en ik vergeet nog een goede wijnkaart ( lokaal )

Service très sympathique, enfants bienvenus, cuisine corse avec de bons produits et un bon rapport qualité-prix, à 5 minutes de l'aéroport de Figari !
